Parents To-Be | Calgary Maternity Photographer

For someone who admitted that she had never shot a maternity session a month or two ago, it feels like every second email I get is a maternity session inquiry…is there a baby boom I’m unaware of?  Baby boom or not, these ‘almost parents’ were wedding clients of mine last year and it was so nice to spend an evening with them.

K&B, I have no doubt in my mind that you are going to be fantastic parents.  Thank you so much for asking me to document another important milestone in your lives and I cannot wait to meet your little bundle of joy.   I hope you love your maternity session as much as I do.

Spring Maternity Session | Calgary Photographer

So, I was trying to think if I have ever done a true maternity session before…yes, a few clients have been in the early stages of pregnancy in family photos, but I don’t think I have ever shot this type of session before.  So when my very cute and pregnant sister-in-law asked me to “take a few pictures” of her and her husband, I was a little hesitant.  How do I make a maternity session look good without crossing the line into cheesy?   You all know the pictures I’m talking about, if not, just google the words maternity photography and have a look.

So I hope that I have stayed away from the cliche and the tacky and documented two people who love each other and are about to add to their family.  If not, I guess this is the end of my maternity photography career…
