Photographers have this ongoing debate about taking pictures of their own families.  Some find it extremely easy and others find it the most difficult shoot they will ever do.  I tend to lean towards the difficult side, but in my case I find it next to impossible to take pictures of my own kids and my niece and nephew (as they have so many better things to do than to listen to me).  But for someone who went into this shoot  with severe trepidation and prepared to be completely frustrated, it went surprisingly well.  Maybe our little family has past the hurdle of not listening when I pull out my camera or maybe the bribe of a candy store once we were finished actually worked this time.  Well, whatever the reason, I am happy to share a little of my Alberta-self on the blog (including the cold wind and the grain elevator).

Enjoy.

My sister’s kids.

My beautiful kids.

My young-at-heart parents. (No mom, I’m not calling you old)

The whole gang.

My philosophy about family photography is to look beyond the people and find the connections.  I think anyone can line up a family and take a picture, but to dig deeper and find love, compassion and a connection is my ultimate goal in every family session that I shoot.

So to show my appreciation to all my clients here is a video that I put together to say thank you.  Thank you for letting me be a part of your family (if only momentarily), thank you for allowing me to capture your family, thank you for showing me your true selves and thank you for all the love and support throughout this year full of change.

Email Issues

December 9, 2010

Apparently my email has been naughty and not all of messages have gotten to me over the past few weeks (it definitely will be getting a big lump of coal from Santa this year). So if I haven’t responded, my apologies and please feel free to resend your message.

Thanks for understanding.

Boudoir photography can be a very personal experience but it can also be sexy, sultry, flirtatious or subtle.  You can wear as much clothing or as little clothing as you want.  Most of all, my boudoir photography is about confidence and attitude and seeing yourself in a new way.

So for those people who are wondering what a session might look like, here is one brave woman who let me put a few of her images up, thanks Mrs. A!!

Keep posted for information on an upcoming boudoir session special just in time for Christmas and to mark my boudoir studio opening!!

Here is the first of many fall sessions that I have to blog.  These posts are going to come fast and furious (hopefully).  The first is of Jolene and Tyler.  It was so nice to wander around the beautiful University of Alberta with them on a beautiful fall afternoon.  Hope you enjoy seeing your sneak preview of our session together.
