A ‘country picnic’ is how Wendy described her wedding to me in the months leading up to the big event.  A small, intimate wedding full of laughter, tears and love is what I saw.  Wendy and Doug put so much of themselves into their wonderful day and it was an honor to capture it.  They did what I ask so many of my couples to do, make time for themselves on their wedding day, and I think the pictures reflect the relaxed, happiness that came because of it.

Congratulations to the both of you.  Much love and happiness for the years to come.  I hope you enjoy your sneak peek of your wedding images.

Ted and Jenn, where do I begin?  I always seem to have writers block when I’m blogging about friends….as I’m staring at the flashing cursor I’m thinking of words that describe you two…caring, genuine, funny, loving, generous, the list could go on and on.  But most of all when I think of you two I always think of you together…Jenn AND Ted…never one or the other separately.  I think this speaks volumes of your love for one another.  I have never met another couple who I can say with such certainty and sincerity that are perfect for one another.

Before I start to get all mushy, I just wanted to say thank you for allowing me to document your day (and for being some of my biggest fans, thank you for seeing the simplicity and the connection between people in my work and understanding it).  I hope that your images are just as beautiful to you as they are to me.

With all my love…

Two of the cutest kids in a wedding, EVER!!

A Winter Wedding

December 5, 2010

I know I have written this before, but sometimes it is very difficult for me to compose a blog about a shoot and it usually happens when it is my family or close friends.  This is one such blog post because this was my beautiful cousin’s wedding.  So I am going to try to put my thoughts together without getting emotional, so this is going to be short and sweet in order to avoid this.

I love winter weddings, especially when it is a gorgeous day outside (thankfully, this was one of them).   So, with the sun shining above them T and B were surrounded by a very small group of family and friends and solidified their friendship, love and future together.

T and B, thank you so much for allowing us to capture your very special day.  We felt very privileged to document it and hope that it is the start of so many beautiful and happy memories.

Some weddings touch my heart differently than others, this one was one of those.  Well, it should be, it was family…more specifically my sister-in-laws.  Surrounded by 38 of their loved ones Erin and Brian exchanged marriage vows in one of the most stunning landscapes Alberta has to offer.  We partied the night away with rousing games of horseshoes and bocce ball all while snacking on s’mores.  The neighbour across the lane from the venue brought over a donkey, yes…a donkey.

Erin and Brian, you two are so very special to me and I hope that I captured all the great moments of your day.  Thank you to all the friends and family who helped pull this wedding off in two months.  And most of all, congratulations to the beautiful couple.

Enjoy!!

Marcela and Arron’s wedding was definitely one of my top 5 favourite weddings.  Small and intimate with every detail taken care of and finished to perfection.  Marcela was exquisite in her wedding dress and Arron was very dapper in his suit.  They chose to have their ceremony in the stunning outdoor sculpture garden of the Alberta Art Gallery and their dinner with 40 of their closest family and friends at Character’s Restaurant.  Ashley from Simply Unique Weddings did a fabulous job of transforming Marcela and Arron’s ideas into reality.  To end the day on a sweet note, treats from Duchess Bake Shop, yummers!!

Marcela and Arron, I hope you enjoy your wedding pictures sneak peek.  I had a wonderful day with you and I wish you all the best.Enjoy!!
